The Threads of Destiny Rise Top

Episode 2: The Awakening

had been two weeks since the fateful night that these two strangers had been operated at the Hospital del Mar. The two patients had gone through very tough night, after most of the time in the ICU, constantly struggling between life and death. The patient had been operated by Dr. Merino was fully awake, while the other man, who at first was of less concern, had fallen into a deep coma. Both had suffered a head contusion, but thanks to the experience of Isaac Murphy, the man seen by the senior doctor had a postoperative much more enjoyable, being able to wake up and even after such a brutal fall. While another stranger had intervened Dr. Galindo, a newcomer to the Hospital del Mar, who had been assigned to the emergency room (like most young interns) and was one of the few surgeons are available at the time, affecting Health directory of the second unknown.

Isaac During these two days had kept the diary found locked in his desk, so no curious could get their hands on, as the two men were the main topic of gossip back in the hospital. Merino was about to have a chat with unknown patient, who had been dubbed "Pepe" between the hospital staff while they theorized about the identity of both unknown, and further considering that all inquiries and investigations made by staff of the Hospital del Mar (ID routine in these cases by fingerprints or by using the system Reniec *) have ended in deadlock.

When Isaac finally came to the room "Pepe" a mixture of smells seized your senses: a strange fusion of hospitality and friendly aromas cheap, that made Isaac remember the low health budget of the Hospital del Mar the good heart of nurses, as "Pepe" was one of the few patients who enjoyed a "sweet tropical fragrance" valued at less than one euro.

Dr. Merino was ready to talk, but before he could utter a word, "Pepe" watched with a penetrating gaze, analyzing each part of the anatomy of the doctor: his eyes, his arms ... until he saw the paper he held in his hands. The same newspaper that wanted to read the entire hospital, the same day that Isaac was closely guarded so that no one read its contents until one of the two strangers wake up ...

"Excuse me of indiscretion and I skip the formalities doctor but I need to give me the paper, is of vital importance.

"Before I'd like to answer some questions. The first and obvious: Who are you? Then: What was fighting like a tightrope with another walker at the top of the Mapfre tower? And finally, why does not carry any identification?

The patient's face showed utter confusion at the massive barrage of questions by the veteran doctor. Merino realized almost instantly, his lack of professional touch in not saying anything patient's current health status:

hit "Excuse my interrogation. I Dr. Isaac Merino. It was I who underwent surgery two weeks ago. Thankfully his condition is stable and is currently having a favorable response to medication, although it will take several weeks for observation, and that its operation, despite having been successful, requires careful clinical monitoring for possible sequels or some kind of allergy or rejection drugs. Besides ...

"Of course it is excused, Doctor Merino, and I thank the clinical data on my speech, my reaction to medicines and other medical details, but I need to give me that paper once and for all . It is very important to me, much more than you think.

Now

was Isaac Merino who was a little confusing. How important could be the day he had in his hands? What was the reason why his patient was so worried about him, leaving aside the details of his health, something as momentous as the struggle between life and death?

"Do not worry, I understand perfectly. I imagine that may serve to sort out his memories, and the bruise could have caused some kind of blackout.

In the face of "Pepe" drew a half smile, almost ironic.

"That's right doctor. It may seem that I'm too cranky to my health, but that I would not look like a lunatic ....

"Of course, do not worry. I will leave the newspaper in your hands. Again in a few hours when order placed on his head.

"Thank you, Doctor Merino, my coconut is a little played now, but I know I owe you some answers. I promise to be answered when we return in a few hours.

A look of comprehension and understanding across the face of Dr. Murphy, who recalls suffering many of its peers during the civil war, the large gaps that many suffered due to a state of shock or injuries too severe, both of body and mind, other than delusions, rallantes with madness ... Isaac was a relief to almost a joy, being one of the few survivors of that infamous war (or was it the only?) that was not done in a madhouse. If anyone had seen what he saw his platoon. If you ever felt able to tell someone, if only to remove that enormous weight off ... but no, can not, or rather should not know.

"Okay, and I repeat: do not worry and try to remember everything you can.

Dr. Isaac is about to leave, when it gets to point.

"Oh, certainly, in the hospital we have nicknamed" Pepe "because we do not know his name. Could you at least answer that question, for how to address you?

While Isaac was the last comment, "Pepe" had already begun to leaf through the newspaper. "Pepe" seemed to hesitate for a split second and drawing a small, almost imperceptible, friendly smile on his face.

is over the role of Marcus. Now that I am writing this blog, its author. I tried to saw with daily tickets to Marcus was the story of the character, what drives it, what made him tick, and who is actually in addition to the mystery, the mythological character will this story. I have many said that the character "He" has been the most I liked, by the twisted and macabre sense of humor, for that way of being both sinister and absurd. You will have "him" for a while, alone.
Now, without further delay, begins the story of Marcus:

Episode 1: The two sides of the coin

Everything that exists in pathetic this world is fragile. From the dried leaves of a tree being blown by the wind while being severed, to the most magnificent buildings that creates the human being, as the Roman Coliseum or the Taj Mahal. Beings they believe to be the "rulers of the world" never learn: if created, destroyed. Are destructive in nature, sewer rats who struggle to survive and survive by hiding the weakness that everyone has inside. The fragility of human beings is almost poetic: can die a thousand and one ways, looking for a way to die "with dignity", try to live forever or even some who believe that life is a "burden "prefer to leave everything behind and likely to change his life, move on to a plane beyond human comprehension ... a plane that is non-existent. Although everyone, rich and poor, good and evil, fight or cry at all, each one of them, Charon leads. All are forgotten, all faint, all simply die ... every minute and every second, but none really done anything remarkable, something that makes a difference ... except destruction. The excuses they use to tear down something beautiful and break the harmony of the people, nations, continents, the universe, are always the same. Even if they want to persuade or intimidate that are different from the rest, are not snowflakes, uniform beings psychologically. Beings that move out of jealousy. Each small element that is represented in our world has a beginning ... and has an end. Each and every one ... except me.

- Marcus Daily, Day 97881 -

- Doctor Merino, we have an emergency! Two men, age unknown, both seem to have fallen from the Mapfre Tower, one of them seriously injured, the other very seriously wounded, both with heavy bleeding caused by a knife. Have lost much blood, doctor, I do not know if ....

"Calm yourself, woman, all is well. Who are they?, Dr. Merino try to find quick review while patients.

I do not know doctor, not carrying any documentation, only found a few day ... and witnesses say were in the area ...

"Do not worry, I'll find out something of them, for now, the priority is to save the lives of both. First, get me blood units for both. And prepare two surgery rooms, need urgent interventions.

Dr. Isaac Merino was a veteran. His face had a mixture of different traits: he had the wrinkles on a typical elderly person, even if not for this, it was hard to imagine how many years would have. His aquiline nose highlighted, so amazing on her face, her big blue eyes always seemed to be elsewhere, in a plane or in a time beyond the present. A gray hair long and generous rested on his shoulders, he boasted of not having bald in the Merino family since time immemorial. Isaac had "survived" many and many emergency surgeries. At sixty years, Dr. Murphy had been a doctor during times tortuous: had seen the death of friends, great friends, by their own brothers in the civil war, had served in hiding, being physician to the Republican side in the era of the dictatorship, having to operate with kitchen utensils and tools variegated, while patients without anesthesia, which had just asked the same doctor Merino with their pain. Never heard, always fought for them, although some did not survive the interventions, and those who did, died in combat. Only a few had come to see the second millennium, but those few were like brothers to Merino.

In all Del Mar Hospital days are the same: pneumonia, failed suicide attempts, accidents at sea, its proximity to the sea makes a medical center must always be prepared for anything. His long and confusing corridors are a real ordeal for newly qualified doctors, and also for patients: a walk to get around this labyrinthine scientific bulwark of the city. His view of the sea has been the last sight for many dying, who lost their lives in the hands of capricious fate. Bathed by the waters of the Mediterranean and architecturally stunning and unique, also contains one of the scientific production in the country, so there is usually most medical scientists. It has a huge flock of young and inexperienced doctors, but a handful of old salts, experienced and seasoned in a thousand and one battles. One of those few is Dr. Isaac Merino.

Everything happens very quickly, while the veteran doctor has moved steadily and securely engage the newcomer men are more severe. Isaac looks at the face of his patient, a man of normal complexion, early forties. His long face conveys an almost palpable fragility. Her face seems to show good nutrition without excess gluttony. Murphy notes that look of absolute serenity so well known, infinitely peaceful, thanks to anesthesia. The black hair worn short gray hair, full of grotesque mixture of hair gel and blood, further bound to glass fragments embedded in width and along its body, added to several deep cuts and scratches him into a gruesome spectacle.

Isaac and his team got to work, had a life that should be saved.
